“Sense and Sensibility” is perhaps the most famous novel by Jane Austen. The book, written in 1811, not once portrayed in our time. A production “Sense and Sensibility” with Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant in the lead roles has won many international awards, including the Oscar. The novel also was the basis for the controversial book of Ben H. Winters “Sense and Sensibility and sea monsters”.
In the “classic version” the heroine of “Sense and Sensibility” – sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood – do not fight with the bloodthirsty monsters, but rather with each other and, certainly, with themselves. Marianne, personifying reckless feeling, and Elinora which able to control their emotions, are guided in life (and marriage – what is paramount to any decent girl of the XIX century) diametrically opposed arguments… But they are committed to one thing – to love and happiness.
